Andrew R. Miskimon, left, and LT. Alexander I. Miskimon, right. Alex is a naval flight officer stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he flies the F/A-18 Super Hornet. Alex attended the University of Notre Dame on an ROTC scholarship and graduated debt-free with a bachelor’s degree in science pre-professional studies (pre-med).

Mary Miskimon has lived in North Carolina for more than three decades. Like so many, Mary moved to the Raleigh area for a job. An award-winning journalist, Mary covered the state as a news reporter for WPTF/WQDR and Capitol Broadcasting. Upon moving from Raleigh to Apex in the mid-90s—when the population was under 15,000! —Mary left behind the fast-paced news world for a new career: Mom. Mary is the proud mother of Alexander and Andrew.

Marys Family

A dedicated mother, Mary enjoyed attending many baseball and football games, serving as Room Mom, substitute teaching, and coaching winning Science Olympiad teams during her boys elementary and middle school years. In addition to teaching and coaching, Mary served on the board of the prestigious Raleigh Boychoir while her sons performed with the group. Mary understands how much these experiences enriched the lives of her children and that North Carolina families want the same access to top-notch educational opportunities.

Miskimon Graduate

Andrew attended the University of Kansas on an academic scholarship and graduated

debt-free with a degree in business.

Mary currently provides administrative services for a national non-profit and financial planning firm and operates her own landscape design business.

Mary volunteers as chair of the Town of Apex’s Tree Citizens Advisory Panel and her neighborhood’s grounds committee.

Mary also serves her community by creating and delivering hundreds of cards each holiday for seniors residing in area assisted living centers. An animal lover, Mary acts as host to homeless dogs and has herself adopted two rescue dogs named Rockne and Muffet.
